Black Bear Boys & Girls Club
We are an after school program at the Harlan County High School serving 9th-12th grades. We offer dinner, snack, homework help/tutoring, and many different enrichments. Our members are enjoying cooking classes, STEM workshops, and even yoga classes!

Rachel Adkins
Rachel Adkins was raised in the Eastern Kentucky mountains in Pikeville, Kentucky. She attended Pike County Central High School. After graduating she furthered her education at Union Commonwealth University (formerly Union College). While attending school full-time, she started her career with the Boys and Girls Club of Appalachia as a Youth Development Professional at the Union site. After almost two years, she now is the Pineville Boys and Girls Club Unit Director. Rachel is set to graduate come December of 2025, with a General Studies Bachelor’s degree focusing in both Education and Psychology, with a minor in Business. She has a passion for working with youth and guiding them to become the best versions of themselves.
